Those Poor Hartford Whalers

On March 5, 1983 the Hartford Whalers suffered though their 5th game of the season where they gave up 10 or more goals. In this game at the Colisee de Quebec, the Nordiques scored a 10-3 win over the Whalers. Fortunately for the Whalers, this was the last time it happened during the season that they were playing. Exactly four years to the day later the Whalers turned the trick at home agianst the Boston Bruins with a 10-2 win. Nine years to the day after the featured game in question, the Nordiques paid a visit to the Whalers, you guessed it, a 10-4 win for the visitors. Today neither club is in the league as the Whalers have since moved to Carolina and become the Hurricanes. The Nordiques have since moved to Denver and become the Colorado Avalance. Hartford now has a team in the American Hockey League, but Quebec only has a team in junior hockey, a member of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

The answer to yesterdays trivia question is 15 goals in 29 World Cup games have been scored by the United States team. Three times they have scored 3 goals in a game, they did it twice in 1930 the first tournament. Todays trivia question is when the Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Giants moved West after the 1957 season, three Pacific Coast League teams were forced to move, The Los Angeles Angels, the Hollywood Stars and the San Francisco Seals. Where did each of these teams move to? The answer in tomorrows daily blog about the United States Football League.
